MEASURING YOUR FENCE
Before you build your new fence and preferably before you even order materials it is advisable to measure the distance that you want your fence to cover. Once you have these measurements you can talk with our consultants and they will help you finalise your materials order based on the style of fence you have chosen, its complexity and other considerations.
INSTALLATION
Installation of a fence is reasonably simple. Whether you are installing a timber fence or a metal fence you need to work out where your fence line is going to run. The easiest way to ensure that your fence follows the line you want is through the use of a string line from point to point. You then to measure and mark out the distance for your posts, decided by the spans of your railings or panel distances.
Posts – need to go into the ground at least 600mm for a typical 1800mm fence. Concrete is typically used for securing these posts in place. Be sure to use a level to ensure that your posts are level in all directions otherwise you will end up with a fence that does not sit upright. Once the concrete has dried you can proceed with the remainder of the fence. For timber fences this means the erection of railings and palings. For metal fences installation of bottom plates, panels and top plates.
As you can see the installation of a fence is not beyond the reach of a confident person who is capable of following directions. Contact Northside Fencing, your leading supplier of fencing materials and providers of tips and recommendations to make your DIY fencing projects a huge success.
